CapoeiraDC Case Statement

CapoeiraDC is a local DC-based organization that has over 20 years of service in offering an array of kids classes for toddlers to teens, adult classes, Samba and Afro-Brazilian dance, music and drumming. CapoeiraDC has served an average of 300+ people every year and maintained an annual retention rate among members of 85%. When designing the case study statement for this local organization it was important for us to reflect the nature of Capoeira. It is a very kinetic and energizing martial art form. To symbolism the nature of this art, we wanted to illustrate movement hence the use of curved lines, curved picture frames and action-based imagery. To further symbolize the Brazilian-origin of the art form we wanted to use Brazilian textiles and textures which is found throughout the statement.
